Review: NYC Big Bold Plumping & Shine Lip Gloss

Hi, friends! Today I wanted to share my thoughts with you on the newest lip gloss in my collection: NYC's Big Bold Plumping & Shine Lip Gloss. I received it in my Influenster Varsity VoxBox, and it's been awhile since I did an Influenster post, so I thought a review was in order! Let's take a look, shall we?

Influenster? What's that?: Influenster (non-affiliate link) is a website where you can earn points for talking about something you enjoy. I mainly concentrate on fashion and beauty-products, and by reviewing products, answering questions. and just generally being active, you can earn enough points to qualify for a VoxBox--aka a box of goodies shipped to you just for being a cool person. I dig it.

My favorite item in this box was, of course, the beauty item: NYC's Big Bold Gloss. We also received a NYC lip product in my last VoxBox, and I loved it so made that it made it to my Monthly Favorites that month. NYC doesn't always use the best ingredients (the #1 ingredient in the majority of their powders is Talc, which some people have a sensitivity to), but I absolutely love how great their products are, and that nothing from them ever costs more than $5. I'm also an avid lover of lip gloss, so I was happy to add this one to the pile (oh, God, I have a pile. Somebody help me, I have a problem).

I was happily surprised by the formulation of this lip gloss. It wasn't sticky--not as smooth as my beloved Juicy Beauty Lip Gloss from an Ipsy bag months ago, but certainly not sticky. I didn't see or feel any plumping going on, but it's a nice everyday color. It's a lip gloss, it does what it's supposed to do; it makes my lips look glossy.

What I really want to talk to you about is the brush. This lip gloss is considered their Big, Bold, Plumping gloss. I didn't see any plumping in my lips, but they were certainly right about the big. The brush is laughably large. Huge, really. Wait for it...

This is it compared to a MAC Lipglass (see one here), which I consider to be average brush size. See how HUGE that is? That has got to be the biggest lip gloss wand I have ever seen. Why is it so big? It makes me laugh so hard, oh my goodness. Well, at least it cuts off .5 seconds from my makeup routine by being able to do my whole mouth in one dip of the tube. But seriously, does no one else understand the hilarity of this? It's big enough for an ogre. Ogres wearing lip gloss! Can you picture that? Hahahahaha! Hmm, maybe I'll grow desensitized to the ridiculous size of it in time.

Nope, still funny.

Ahem, back to business. The exact name of the shade is nowhere to be found on this tube, but from my Googling around, it might be Big City Blush. It might have come off with the sticker/packaging (I hate that, don't you?) It's a pretty, natural color that I think is great for every day. It's somewhere in between a light pink and a pale apricot.

This lip gloss isn't being sold in all drugstores yet, but it will be soon! You'll be able to find it for $3.99 in a drugstore near you in no time at all.

What do you think about this lip gloss? Did you get the Varsity VoxBox? Are you thinking of joining Influenster?
