Monthly Favorites: April 2013

Hi everyone! April is over, which means it's time for my April favorites! It is also the end of the semester, but I do not have any semester favorites...

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector Light Sheer Tint ($9 ~ 1 oz) - I bought this after a friend recommended it to me. It's definitely not a true BB cream, but rather one of the typical Western ones (as in the Western Hemisphere), but I like it anyway. The first time I tried it, I'll admit that I wasn't a fan, since I had acne and nasty stuff going on that this didn't cover up. Over the past few months, however, my face has cleared up a lot. I have a lot less to cover up and I think this gives a nice dewey glow to my face. I think it's actually a little bit too dewey (between this and my moisturizer), but after a bit of translucent power, it looks just fine. I've found it lasts all day, but I have a feeling people with oily skin would disagree. If you have dry skin, normal skin, or combination skin (like me!), I recommend it. It doesn't provide a lot of coverage--when they say "Sheet Tint," they mean it--but I've found that I can double it up using a concealer brush for a little more coverage around the sides of my nose where girls typically get red. Also, if you're going to be taking photos, I do not recommend wearing this because it has SPF 30 in it and that can cause white face in flash photography! Overall, I'm really enjoying using this product, since it makes me feel like I have a face and not just a mask of makeup on. I feel like my skin can breathe with this, and it just balances out my skin tone a little bit and tones down the redness. This can be found at drugstores and Ulta.

Review: Julep Nail Vernis in Stefani

Hey lovelies! Today I'd like to talk to you about Julep nail polishes in general, especially this particular one, Stefani.

(2 Coats + Top Coat ~ Natural Light)

The bottle feels very expensive--it's made completely of glass and is heavier than drugstore polishes. It feels almost luxurious. I don't quite understand why the polish doesn't go all the way to the bottom, but that's just semantics.

Products I've Used Up: April 2013

Hello everyone! This post is kind of bittersweet, because it's products that I've used up (that I mostly enjoyed) that are now gone! I would like to share with you all what I liked, what I didn't like, and what I would repurchase.

SKINN Olive & Enzyme Rich PM Cleanser ($24 ~ 4oz) I LOVED this cleanser! I don't think I've ever loved a cleanser before, but I'm really going to miss this. It removed my makeup really, really well (after using a makeup removing wipe, I would clean my face with this on my Clarisonic and I would see my makeup stained on the brush afterwards) and it was super moisturizing. I have dry-combination skin, and this felt great while not making my T-zone oily. It also smells really delicious, kind of like an orange creamsicle (but some people might not be fond of that). It can also be used as a mask, but I've never tried it. Also, a 4oz bottle lasts a LONG time; I've had this since September and used it every night since then, and I just ran out now! Though, it is kind of expensive on its own and is a much better value if purchased in the twin-pack with the AM cleanser (which I am not particular fond of). Can be purchased on SKINN's website.

Ipsy Glam Bag: April 2013

Hey everyone! Today I'll be showing you the Ipsy Glam bag I received in the mail this month! This month's theme was "Pretty in Pink" (which also happens to be the title of one of my favorite movies).

For those who don't know, Ipsy is a makeup/beauty monthly subscription service. For $10/month (plus tax in some states, shipping included), you'll receive 4-5 products in a little cosmetic bag. It sounds like a great idea, and some bags I've received have been awesome. However, some bags, like this one, were not so awesome. If you're interested in signing up, you can click here to register for their Wait List (it usually takes about one month to get a bag, so if you get put on the wait list in late April and miss May's bag, you'll be able to sign up for June's bag). Unlike Birchbox, I don't get any sort of compensation for you clicking this link (I wish!)

Review: Smashbox Cream Eyeliner

Hi everyone! Today I'll be reviewing my favorite eyeliner the Smashbox Cream Eyeliner in Midnight Brown. It's kind of my Holy Grail eyeliner, and I've recently hit pan on it. There's always something so exciting but so sad about hitting pan on a product you love.

Haul: Physician's Formula Concealers

Good evening (or whatever time it is where you are)! I just came back from CVS and I am beyond excited to share what I bought with you!

I stopped in to CVS on my way home from rehearsal, just because I pass it on the way, when I saw that there is a current sale going on: $6 off all Physician's Formula products! Say what? I own a few of their products, and I like them, but they are just completely overpriced (some of their products are even $15, which is extreme for drugstore makeup). Also, I think all of their claims are bogus (their Happy Booster Blush does not make me happier. The cute packaging makes me smile, but other than that, it's a waste of breath). Anyway, I just had to purchase a few things, and I'm pretty frugal so you know it's a good deal!

Review: Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel

Hello everyone! Today I'll be reviewing Chella's Defining Eyebrow Gel. I received a .12 fl oz. sample back in November in my Ipsy Glam Bag and it's lasted me a decent amount of time. I'm sad to say I think I'm almost out! I've really been liking it so far.

Review: MAC Eyeshadow in Bold & Brazen

I love MAC eyeshadows; they feel like silk and they glide on like a dream. They're always very pigmented, and you get what you pay for. Some people don't like paying $18 for one pot of eyeshadow, and some people don't mind. I don't have too many eyeshadows from MAC (as the typical college student, they don't exactly fit into my budget), but this is one I am so happy to own.
