Beauty Scenario (Tag)

Hey, friends! I missed you on Friday! Sometimes real life gets in the way, but I'm back with a fun tag post for you today. Heather at Coconut & Cotton tagged me to do this over two months ago, and now that I'm on summer vacation, I finally have the time to do it! I hardly do tags, so this is going to be fun. Let's get started!

1. You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore, which do you keep?
Well, I don't wear foundation, but I suppose this could be transferred to BB Cream! For the high-end product, I would definitely pick my DR. JART+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 ($39 for 1.5oz)

It has been both a monthly favorite and a 2013 Favorite, and with good reason. It has a fair amount of coverage (I would say medium), while still leaving the skin looking natural. Also, it blends easily with a brush or your fingers (I use my Sigma Sigmax F80). Plus, I love that SPF 45, as well as the other added benefits of using a BB cream as opposed to a foundation. The Dr. Jart+ is definitely one of the more authentic BB creams, rather than the ones you'd usually find in the Western Hemisphere. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a balance of coverage, while still keeping your skin looking like skin.

For drugstore, my mind immediately turns to my MAYBELLINE Dream Fresh Beauty Balm in Light Sheer Tint ($7 for 1oz)

Another long-time favorite of mine, I love using this. They aren't lying when they say it's a "sheer tint"; it's basically a tinted moisturizer with an SPF. If there are any serious skin concerns that you want your foundation not to show, this isn't the product for you. I like this because it evens out my skin tone a little, while still providing a great amount of moisture. It's slightly buildable, so I can take a little more on a concealer brush and go over the redness around my nose to tone it down. What I love most about this product is that skin feels so soft and smooth while I'm wearing it. I especially love it for the cold winter months (which in Boston is basically November to April). This isn't a true BB cream by definition, but it sure is a nice, affordable product for those with dry skin or even combination skin (like myself).

2. You go for an interview and the lady interviewing you has lipstick on her teeth. Do you approach the subject or ignore it completely?
Oh I ignore it hardcore, like I ignore the fact that Taco Bell isn't real Meixcan food. If this woman is holding my future in her hands, I will act like she has the best teeth in the world. I think if I were to alert her that there was lipstick in her teeth, depending on the person, she might take it as if I was correcting her. That could upset the power dynamic, because typically the person interviewing you likes to be in control. Plus, it could just make both of us feel awkward. I guess it really depends on the situation, though. The real question is: will I be able to control myself and not tell her?

3. You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which lipstick do you put on to make yourself feel beautiful?
If I'm not feeling beautiful, I want to feel pretty but still be comfortable. I don't typically feel lipstick when I'm feeling crummy, but if I were going to, it would be a Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter ($6).

They're comfortable on the lips and keep them feeling moisturized and smooth. The balmy feel and sheer wash of color make them easy to wear without feeling too 'done-up" for everyday.

4. You go back in time for a day to your teenage years, how would you do your hair and makeup differently?
Since I only just turned 21 on Thursday, my teenage years aren't too far behind me. I think my style definitely grew from 13 to 19, but don't think I made any horrible beauty sins in that time. #noregrets

5. You ask your hairdresser for a shoulder length Pixie Lott hair cut, but they hear wrong and give you a pixi cut. Do you a) Smile, say thank you, leave and call your mom hysterical b) Cry in the chair and things get awkward or c) Complain to the manager and demand a refund.
Well, my friend Niki usually cuts my hair now, but if I do go to a hairdresser, I tend to watch her like a hawk. It's nothing personal, and maybe it's the stage manager in me, but I always have to know what's going on. I don't just close my eyes for an hour and open them when the haircut's done. This scenario wouldn't happen to me, because 1) I had to Google who Pixie Lott is, and 2) If I wanted to copy a celebrity's haircut, I would bring in a picture and discuss with the hairdresser how it would look with my bone structure and what would work best for me. Also, I think I would notice her cutting all of my hair off before things got too far. So d) none of the above, because I'm worth it.

6. Your friend surprises you with a 4 day city break and you have 1 hour to pack. Which ‘do it all’ palette do you pack in your makeup bag?
I guess my makeup collection is smaller than I thought, because I don't have one palette that does everything. Also, when I'm traveling, I tend to bring as little makeup as possible, and a palette would take up too much room. Plus, I prefer to not bring any brushes at all, except maybe one travel brush with a cap. When traveling, I'll usually just bring the following: undereye concealer, powder and a brush to set it, cream blush, cream eyeshadow, eyeliner, an eyelash curler, mascara, and a few lip products. Plus, if I'm on vacation, I don't want to spend 30 minutes in front of the mirror getting ready; I want to be out exploring the sights!

7. Your house has been robbed, don’t worry everyone is safe, but your beauty stash has been raided. What’s the product you really hope is safe?
I think I'd be more worried about my wallet being stolen, but if it was only some kind of beauty bandit, I think they need some kind of therapy. But going along with the question, if my CLARISONIC Mia 2 ($136.24) was taken from me, you can bet your butt that I'd go all Jennifer Lopez in Enough to get my baby back.

The Clarisonic (full review) has changed my skin for the better. As someone with combination skin, I would often get breakouts on my nose and forehead, but I haven't had nearly as many since I started using this device a year and a half ago. It really cleans out the gunk in your pores, and though it's called a cleansing device, it also mildly exfoliates (it's a rotating brush, after all). My skin starts to peel if I go without using this for a few days, and it's one of the few beauty things I own that I would rush out to repurchase if something happened to it.

8. Your friend borrows your makeup and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs?
Well, I don't let anyone borrow my makeup because 1) That's gross, because germs and 2) I don't trust people. If I had a stroke of kindness and decided to let someone borrow one of my items, only to have it returned in critical condition, I would be all over option B. I'm not nice enough to do option A (also how could I not notice?), and C is just catty and rude. If your friend is too inconsiderate to replace something that they visibly destroyed, then maybe you shouldn't be friends anymore, since they obviously don't have respect for your belongings. But that's a story for another day.
