Stunner of the Month: July 2013 Review

Hey, friends! Today I wanted to share with you what I received in last month's Stunner of the Month box.

Stunner of the Month? What's that? Stunner is a monthly subscription service that, for $9 a month, will send you a new pair of sunglasses. You can sign up and get more information here (I don't receive anything for you signing up).

I found a code on Facebook for a free first pair (TRYSTUNNER), so I decided to give it a shot. Let's see what I got, shall we?

It came in this cool little box, perfectly sized for a pair of sunglasses (I hate getting large boxes that have a tiny item and are mostly filled with packing peanuts). I was able to choose from three styles (Masculine, Unisex, or Feminine), and I decided to go with the Feminine style. I had no idea what any of the sunglasses looked like, but I know I like really cute things, so I figured that would be the best option for me. To be honest, I think the unisex pair that Julia over at Penny Pinching Perfection received is more feminine, but that's just me.

The sunglasses came in this cool little pouch, perfectly sized for a pair of sunglasses. I think I'll reuse this for whatever sunglasses I'm wearing at the moment. Sometimes wearing my sunglasses on my head all day gives me a headache, and now I can put them in this and stick them in my purse without worrying that they'll be scratched!

Taped to the inside of the box was this thing. I'm not quite sure what it is. It appears to be some sort of clip, but I can't figure out how it would attach to the sunglasses. Hmm.

Lo and behold, I opened the white pouch to find these bad boys. They're not so bad. Not really my taste, but they're not ugly either. However, I will say they are humongous. These go all the way past my cheekbones, down to the bottom of my nose (almost reaching my nostrils, and I don't even have a particularly small face). Whoa! I probably won't be wearing these ever, but maybe I'll put them towards a giveaway in the future. ;)

These are GINORMOUS!
Will I be continuing this monthly subscription service? No. I can pick out my own cute, feminine sunglasses at Charlotte Russe for $5 if I really want another pair. I typically don't like to spend a lot on my sunglasses, simply because I just don't wear them that often (I work in theatre--I never see the light). Cheap sunglasses don't always provide a full UVA/UVB spectrum of sun protection, but again, I hardly see the sun anyway so it's not a problem. If you go out in the sun a lot, in the summer or year-round, make sure to get sunglasses that offer full protection!

I don't find Stunner's sunglasses suit my sense of style, and I'd rather just choose my own in a store, where I can try them on and see before I buy. Still, it's a fun idea for a subscription service, and I'm sure somebody out there likes them. If you'd like to try Stunner, the code I used above might still work. Let me know in the comments below if you try it out!

What do you think about a sunglasses subscription service?
